And Theatre Trent merely supports the players
Theatre Trent is a student levy group of Trent University dedicated to supporting theatrical endeavours throughout the Trent community. Theatre Trent does not mount its own productions. Rather, we assist aspiring theatre makers in several ways.
The most important, we're sure you will agree, is through financial support for your project. We can help you with the cost of space rental for rehearsals and performances, the cost of equipment rentals, costumes and props. There are some caveats: for example, we do not cover the cost of wages. Hey, we can't do everything!
We can also help you with costumes and props in a more concrete way. We now have storage space in Sadlier House which has become a treasure trove of useful stuff - funky, foolish, fearsome and even functional - all available for borrowing at no cost to Trent theatre makers. We are still in the process of creating a detailed inventory, which we will soon make available via our web site. In the meantime, you are welcome to browse our inventory.
To Be, Or not to Be?
Applications for funding are received twice yearly - in the fall for winter/spring productions and in the spring for spring/summer production. You may fill out the form on-line and have it delivered by e-mail, or request a paper copy to be returned to our address at either Sadleir House or the TCSA office.
Please be as complete and SPECIFIC!!! as possible. Tell us which venue you will be using and how much they are charging you for what period of time. Tell us how much you will be paying for paint and cardboard and sequins and feather boas and fake blood and tech rentals and roller blades and first aid kits and bandaids. Break your costs right down. And give us a complete participant list. We want to get your money to you as soon as possible. If we have to track you down for more information it stalls the process.

Aye, here's the rub!
There are some rules to consider before making an application.
Be aware that:
- at least 50% of your cast and/or crew must be either Trent students, alumnae or faculty/staff
- all costumes and props acquired through Theatre Trent funding must be returned to Theatre Trent post production
- space rental costs will be paid directly to the venue where possible
- you will be required to produce receipts
Alas, there are penalties for failure to comply, which could affect future funding applications for any and all associated with the production.
